Why anyone would waste their time studying journalism is beyond me.
It’s really quite simple: you either know how to write (and report truthfully), or you don’t.
Apart from that, as we see in Canada, “journalists” are those who know the right people or who are willing to sell their soul (or something else) to land a job with a newspaper or media outlet.
And those “journalists” in Canada who have actually completed a course in journalism, or a similar discipline, usually can’t spell or form complete sentences (just look at every single newspaper in Canada - e.g., none of those “journalists” knows the difference between ‘that’ and ‘than”).
